Day 5

Tiananmen Square,Forbidden City,Temple of Heaven, Foot massage

Destination: Beijing

Today' s Activities: Tiananmen Square,Forbidden City,Temple of Heaven, Foot massage

Meals: B, L

- Tiananmen Square: The world's largest city square and an enduring symbol of China's national pride, surrounded by many imposing buildings including the Heavenly Gate (entrance to the Forbidden City), National Museum of China, government buildings and Chairman Mao's Mausoleum.
- The Forbidden City: The Imperial Palace, home to 24 Emperors between 1420 and 1911. Great squares, halls and gates contrast with the intricate networks of side halls, gardens, courtyards and quarters for those who lived in this 'city within a city'. The exhibitions, both permanent and temporary, are also fascinating.
-Lunch at Heaven and Earth (TianDiYiJia): Situated in a refined courtyard mansion a stone’s throw from the Forbidden City, this luxurious Chinese restaurant boasts traditional furniture and ornate details. Their specialties include foie gras with sake; fusion foods with a refreshing twist.
- Temple of Heaven: One of the most famous sites in Beijing, this is Ming architecture at its best: beautiful, balanced and highly symbolic. The surrounding gardens are full of interesting sights and activities, particularly on weekend mornings when many Beijing residents come to the park to enjoy some traditional forms of exercise such as Tai Chi.

- Foot Massage: after 3 days hiking the Great Wall we offer a foot massage and relax in traditional Chinese style.

Day 6

Summer Palace,Hutong,Option: Visiting 798 or Biking or Chinese Calligraphy

Destination: Beijing

Today' s Activities: Summer Palace,Hutong,Option: Visiting 798 or Biking or Chinese Calligraphy

Meals: B, L

- Summer Palace: Much-loved summer retreat of the Imperial families, the lovely landscaped gardens, halls, pavilions and corridors are set around a large lake and rivers, achieving a sense of natural harmony. With over 800 years of history it is a beautifully preserved example of traditional Chinese gardening art, as well as the biggest garden in China and an architectural masterpiece. Wear good walking shoes and protection from the weather.
- Bai Family Garden Restaurant: Originally a prince’s mansion and now a garden restaurant, Bai serves good food in a beautiful environment.
 - Hutong tour by Rickshaw: The maze of historic alleyways and old single storey traditional courtyard houses where the old Beijing residents lived is now fast disappearing. Your tour includes a visit with a local family, where you will be able to gossip with locals and discover a way of living that has barely changed for hundreds of years.

Option:
798 Chinese Contemporary Art Zone: Situated in the Dashanzi area of Chaoyang District, this complex of disused military factories has become a network of galleries, workshops and cafes, and is a lovely place to spend an afternoon strolling.

Biking around the old town: We will provide bikes and a guide will bike with you around the old town of Beijing. In this biking tour, you will see the Drum Tower, Bell Tower, pass by Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and National Theatre.

Calligraphy class. We will learn from Mr. Xin, who studied and worked at the China Fine Arts Academy as a student and associate professor, specialized in Chinese Calligraphy and Seal Engraving. He will teach you to understand this form of art by writing pictographic Chinese, which was an early form of Chinese characters used over 3,500 years ago. You also will learn hold the brush properly and to write the characters by yourself.
