This large national park, located near Shangri-La of Yunnan Province is a must-see. It is a protected World Heritage Site and the area has been a national park since 2007. It is noted for being the first national park in China. The area covers a total of around 1,300 square kilometers and there are various lakes and meadows in the area, notably Shudu and Bita Hai Lake. Pudacao National Park is especially rich in flora and fauna and the park houses approximately 20 percent of China’s plant species. It is also home to the endangered black-necked crane and various unique plants.
Horse riding is also an option for visitors to the park. It’s about an hour drive from Zhongdian town (Shangri-La) to the park.
