Xian Transportation

Xian is a fairly pedestrian city with ample underpasses and overpasses that make walking more efficient and safe.  If you are without an electric bike, the transportation mode of choice for Xian’s younger population, you shouldn’t have a problem getting around by bus or taxi.
Subway:  A 6-line subway system is currently under construction that will service the city proper as well as a few outlying suburbs.  The project is slated for completion in 2020.
Taxis:  Taxis are an easy way to get around Xian.  You can catch a taxi 24 hours a day and they always run by the meter.
Train:  Xian is home to one of China’s 8 major national railway stations, and has a highly extensive railway system.  Servicing more than 110 trains daily, Xian’s railway stations move over 80,000 passengers in any given day.
Bus: Bus traffic filters through three long distance stations in Xian.  Daily busses travel to Yan’an, Lanzhou, Zanzhong, and several other big cities in China.  Local busses also provide transportation around town, accessing all the major sights for low fares.
Air:  As one of China’s 7 main transport hubs, Xian has 57 scheduled flights to numerous major cities daily.  International services through Xian’s Xianyang Airport include airlines from Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, Thailand, Germany, France, Great Britain, Canada, and The United States.  An airport expressway is currently under construction that will make airport access more efficient, but for now convenient shuttles run regularly from downtown Xian.
