Tang Dynasty Show
The outstanding historical significance of Xian as China's former Imperial Capital over 13 dynastic periods has endowed the 
city with rich traditional and cultural practices. The ancient arts of song and dance dating back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907), China’s most prosperous historical period, are still eloquently practiced in Xian today. The Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show that is performed today is a reflection of this glorious frame of China's historical past, preserving the invigorating culture of this period. The dance, whos roots are deeply embedded in folk art forms, were first performed as prayer rituals for fruitful harvests and a better life. The show is characterized by extravagant costumes and vibrant colors, boasting a fascinating array of unique musical instruments, traditional designs, and cultural practices promising a brilliantly impressive performance. Those that practice the ancients arts of the Tang Dynasty today area fully versed in historical records, books, frescos, carvings, and sculptures that depict the cultural traditions in order to keep them alive according to their pure, original intents.
