Xihui Park
Located just 2.5k west of downtown Wuxi, Xihui Park is situated between Mount Xi and Mount Hui, after which the park is named. Covering an area of more than 45sq k, the park is famous for its beautiful man made lake, spring pools, gardens, temples, and pagodas.
Reaching a height of 75 meters, Mount Xi was once very well known as a rich resource of tin. Today the mountain is densely shrouded in swatches of colorful flowers and verdant plants. On top of the hill stands the Longguang Pagoda and Temple. Known also as the Dragon Light Pagoda, Longguang stands as the symbol of Wuxi. First constructed during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), the octagonal pagoda suffered irreparable fire damage and was rebuilt during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). From Longguang Pagoda visitors can enjoy a spectacular aerial view of Wuxi and Taihu Lake.
Mount Hui, the tallest point in Wuxi stands at 329 meters with nine peaks. Bearing resemblance to nine dancing dragons, the mountain is also known as Jiulongshan, or Nine Dragons Hill. Legend tells that nine sons of the Dragon King fell asleep after playing one day and were transformed into the nine peaks of Huishan. The hill is spotted with a number of natural springs and scenic areas including Dragon's Eye Spring, Chunshen Gully, Huishan Temple, and the Gold Lotus Bridge.
