Turtle-Head Peninsula Park

Surrounding the shores of Wuxi's Taihu Lake, Turtle-Head Peninsula Park covers an area of 500 hectares. First built in 1918, the park contains a number of attractions including Chongshan Hill, Hengun Villa, the Taihu Fairy Islands, the Jiangnan Orchard Garden, and the Sino-Japanese Friendship Oriental Cherry Plantation.

Richly endowed by its natural beauty, the Turtle-Head Peninsula Scenic area is an ideal location for recreational pleasures, vacation, and leisure. Located also within the park is the Turtle-Head Peninsula Resort at Zhongdu Hill, amidst a picturesque backdrop of calm water and green trees making it a prime spot for a relaxing vacation.

A number of restaurants line the waterfront serving traditional local specialties while small shops filled with locally crafted goods are fun to meander through. Night cruises on Taihu Lake provide visitors with an entirely different experience of the lake as the park quietly calms down for the evening. The park is also equipped with a sightseeing train, high-speed luxury yacht, and seven-sail fishing boat designed to replicate an ancient boat, providing a variety of ways to experience the beauty of Turtle-Head Peninsula Park's hills, gardens, and beautiful lake scenery.

TAIHU FAIRY ISLANDS:
Once known as the Sanshan Islands, or Turtle Islands, the Taihu Fairy Islands are a group of islands within Taihu Lake. The islands; Daji, Xiaoji, Dongya, and Xiya cover a total area of 12 hectares. The islands resemble a divine turtle floating quietly, gracefully, and elegantly in the calm water. Although covered in lush greenery, a few buildings and pavilions are scattered throughout the islands. The islands are home to the Sanshan Taoist Temple, built during the reign of emperor Taibo of the Wu Kingdom more than 3,000 years ago. Because it is the only Taoist temple to be built on an island in China it is revered as a wonderland, uniquely embracing China's traditional Taoist culture.

CHONGSHAN HILL:  Chongshan Hill features a serene lotus pond surrounded by lush grass and fragrant flowers amidst a forested backdrop of rolling hills. Quiet paths meander along the hillside. Atop the hill, spring brings fresh blossoming flowers, in summer the hill provides shade from the warm sun, autumn welcomes rich colors of changing trees, and winter provides a picturesque image of the quiet Taihu Lake.  In between Chongshan Hill and Taihu Lake is an area known as Ten-Li Fragrant Lane, blanketed in lush patches of vibrant flowers and radiant green trees.

LUDING HILL:  The highest point within the Taihu Lake Scenic Area, Luding Hill provides astounding panoramic views of the lake and the city of Wuxi that lies peacefully below the hilltop.
