LI GARDEN

Situated at the southern tip of Wuxi, Li Garden is a quintessential Chinese garden, amidst a backdrop of picturesque lake scenery. Met by the calming Wuli Lake along three of its sides, the garden's rolling hills and paved stone paths create a meandering maze throughout the grounds. First planted in the early 20th century, the garden was designed to be explored, with beautiful scenes to be discovered in each corner.
Within the garden stands the Four Seasons Pavilion, an ideal point at which to admire the surrounding scenery. Actually composed of four separate pavilions, they each serve as a representation of the four seasons with a particular flower that blooms according to the changing seasons, allowing visitors to enjoy flowers in bloom throughout the year. Plum blossoms surround the Spring Pavilion, Oleanders surround the Summer Pavilion, the Autumn Pavilion is planted with sweet smelling Osmanthus, and the Winter Pavilion is planted with Calyx.
Like many Chinese gardens, Li Garden was designed to create a spiritual utopia through a greater connection with nature. Specific plants were chosen for their symbolic significance, for instance bamboo was planted as a representation of strong character, while lotus flowers, a reflection of purity, are scattered throughout the garden. A profound sense of peace and tranquility is deeply embedded in the garden's classic beauty.
An annual lotus exhibition is held in the garden during the summer months from June to September, displaying a colorful variety of flowers in full bloom.
