A history of more than 2,500 years surrounds the cultural city of Yangzhou. Because of its ideal location within the central plain of Jiangsu Provence along the lower banks of the Yangtze River, Yangzhou played a pivotal role in China's early history as a political and financial center, as well as a hub for transport and trade.
