The city is nestled at the center of the Yangtze Delta along the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, just east of Shanghai.
More than 2,500 years of history surround this ancient city. Established in 514 B.C., the antiquated characteristics of Suzhou's past have been exquisitely preserved within the remarkable structures and waterways that make up the canal city, also known as the "Oriental Venice."The city offers countless cultural, historical, and natural attractions including Lion Grove, Tiger Hill, Tongli, the Panmen Gate, the Museum of Opera, and the Garden of Harmony.
