Lijiang Transportation
Air: Lijiang Airport is approximately 28 kilometers south of the city of Lijiang. Travel time between the airport and Lijiang City is approximately 30 minutes by bus. Most major cities in China have air routes to Lijiang Airport. However, as an alternative, some travelers prefer to fly to the neighboring city of Kunming and then take a long-distance bus or flight to Lijiang as Kunming Wujiaba International Airport services more domestic and international flights.
Long Distance Bus: As a result of the extensive highway system surrounding Lijiang, it is quite convenient to travel there by bus. Situated close Sichuan Province and Tibet, there are daily busses running to and from most major surrounding cities.
City Bus: Once in Lijiang, a convenient way to get around town is by bus. There are 10 bus lines that connect to most destinations throughout the city, aside from the Old Town, where vehicular traffic is prohibited. Tickets range from 0.05 RMB to 1 RMB. You can take the No 7 bus from Hongtaiyang Sqaure to Jade Snow Mountain every morning.
Taxi: Another convenient way to get around town is by Taxi. It is rather easy to hail a taxi on the city streets of Lijiang. The starting fare can range from 6 to 7 RMB for travel anywhere in the city with each additional kilometer costing 1.6 to 1.8 RMB. If you would like to venture outside of the city, it is recommended that you negotiate the fare with the driver beforehand.
Bicycle: Bicycles can also be rented on a daily basis for a very reasonable price at some hotels. It is another way to take in the city at your own pace.
