Daguan Park
Known in Chinese as Daguan Gongyuan, the Grand View Tower graces the northern shores of Kunming's Dian Lake. The hills, ponds, pavilions, and rock gardens found within the park bare a striking resemblance to those of the Yangtze River Delta.
The park, which was completed in 1690 during the Qing Dynasty, surrounds Dian Lake. The Grand View Tower provides spectacular views of the lake. On the face of the tower is inscribed a character poem illustrating the rich history and beauty of the area.
The wooden pagoda style structure for which the park is named was rebuilt in 1883. The park, which was first established as a private garden for the Mu family, was expanded and opened to the public under the provincial governor, Wang Jiwen. The park has since developed into one of Kunming's most visited attractions.
