Huangshan Shopping
As China's largest tea producer, Huangshan outputs nearly 80,000 tons of tea annually. Abundant natural resources and fertile land make the region an ideal location for the cultivation of distinguished products including flowers, fruits, and bamboo shoots. The region is also well known for its magnificently handcrafted arts.
Tea: Local teashops are abundant and carry and astonishing collection of locally produced, uniquely masterful teas. You cannot only taste and purchase these teas, but also learn about China's rich cultural history regarding tea and take part in a traditional tea ceremony.
Traditional Folk Arts: The region is known especially for carrying "The Four Treasures of the Study," pertaining to traditional Chinese painting practices. The treasures include the paintbrush, ink stick, ink stone, and paper used by painters to create exquisite imagery depicting traditional Chinese scenes. Several other fine crafted products available include brick and woodcarvings, brush calligraphy, bamboo carvings, and furniture made using bamboo.
Local Products: extremely fertile soil allows Huangshan to produce a vast array of local goods including fruits, vegetables, traditional Chinese medicines, flowers, and nuts. Especially abundant and unique to the region are Chinese gooseberries, a popular fruit, and chrysanthemums. Also, don't forget to try the dry bamboo shoots while visiting Huangshan, as they are a local favorite.
