Unlike many other cities in China, Harbin has a unique variety of shopping goods that has less to do with local handicrafts and more to do with local foods and produce. It also has many influences from its Russian neighbors with particular foods and Russian handicrafts.

Dog Salmon: Generally, seafood is a local favorite with many different types of rare fish that make delicious specialties. Harbin Sausage: Influenced by its Russian neighbors to the North, Harbin sausage is very similar to Russian sausage but it contains cinnamon and round cardamom. Most locals like to enjoy this delicacy with a beer in hand.

Monkey-Head Mushroom: Also known as Hedgehog Hydnum, Monkey-Head Mushroom is one of China's most enjoyed delicacies. It is not only the unique shape and taste of the mushroom that makes it well known, but also the gastroenteritis healing powers it is said to contain.

Sturgeon: Another type of fish that is well known to the region for its tastes and weight is Sturgeon, also known as "The King" of fish. This freshwater fish is typically served on special occasions and can weigh up to several pounds. Also known as Xunhuang Yu, a serving of this tasty fish will definitely leave you happy.
