Hangzhou Transport

Air:  Xianshan International Airport is located 30 kilometers from Hangzhou’s city-center.  From the city center, travelers have the option of taking a taxi, which can cost 100RMB or taking an aviation bus for 20RMB to the airport.  The airport has domestic flights to major cities such as Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Xian, and Guangzhou.  It also offers international flights to Hong Kong, Macau, Bangkok, Singapore, Tokyo, and Seoul.
Train:  Hangzhou is relatively easy to travel to by train with daily services from most major cities in China.  New Train Station or East Train Station connects to Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, and many more other cities.   Soft sleepers for over-night or long-distance travel are available and soft seats tickets for outlying cities.
Bus:  The city has four long distance bus stations, East, West, South, and North Bus Stations that serve as a transportation hub to Zhejiang Province.  The extensive highway system makes bus services to Hangzhou relatively easy and inexpensive.  You can buy tickets directly at any of the bus stations listed above.
Boat:  Situated along the Grand Canal, boat trips from Hangzhou to Suzhou or Wuxi make for an ideal and memorable adventure.  Boats often depart in the evening and arrive the following morning.  Please be advised, this service may only be available during summer or peak season so check availability ahead of time.
Public Bus:  Hangzhou provides an extensive bus system, making travel to any parts of the city fairly convenient and inexpensive.  Air-conditioned busses are indicated by the prefix “K” in the bus number and cost 2 RMB.  Bus numbers prefixed by “3” run to neighboring rural areas and costs vary depending on bus condition and distance.  Tourism busses are air-conditioned and cost 2 RMB per ride.  Bus numbers with only one or two digits will cost 1 RMB.
Bicycle:  Bicycles are a favorite method of transportation while exploring the West Lake.  This mode of transportation can be very relaxing and enjoyable as you take in the sounds and scenery of Hangzhou.  You’ll find plenty of rental places at restaurants and stalls around the West Lake.
