Fei Lai Feng (Peak Flown from Afar)

Within walking distance to Ling Yin Temple is this mysterious peak, also known as Fei Lai Feng.  Legend has it that an Indian monk named Huilu arrived here 1,600 years ago only to find a peak that looked so similar to one he had known in India that he concluded the peak must have flown here from his home country.  Believing this legend, the people of Hangzhou have past the origin of the peak’s name on for centuries.
It is easy to understand why this peak is protected by the government as a national cultural heritage after seeing the numerous limestone statues and exploring the caves. Measuring 209 meters tall, Peak Flown From Afar is distinct from all other mountains around it, composed primarily of sandstone.  They’re you’ll find large stone animals such as crouching tigers, flying dragons, feeling monkeys and running elephants.  There are 330 stone statues dating from the 10th to the 14th centuries, all having distinct poses such as standing, sitting, and sleeping.  Peak Flown From Afar is definitely worth visiting, you be pleasantly surprised by all the hidden treasures within.
