Guilin Transportation
Air: Air travel has rapidly become the most convenient and efficient way of traveling to Guilin. Flights regularly depart to most major domestic locations, and a number of international airports including Japan and Korea. Most hotels provide shuttle services to Guilin’s new international airport. This is both the cheapest and easiest way to get to the airport, typically costing no more than 20rmb. A taxi ride to the airport will cost anywhere from 80-100rmb.
Train: Direct trains travel regularly from Guilin to most major cities in China including Beijing and Guangzhou. Two main train stations facilitate rail passengers with eastbound trains arriving at the new station in north Guilin, and southbound trains arriving at the old station located in west Guilin. Because train travel is a popular and affordable from of transport to Guilin, be sure to buy your tickets in advance.
Bus: Busses traveling short distances arrive and depart from Guilin’s Old Rail Station in the western part of the city for very affordable fares (10-20rmb). Busses traveling longer distances such as Guangzhou and southern cities in Guandong and Guangxi Provinces, depart and arrive from the Long Distance Bus Station.
Boat: For a truly unforgettable experience take a popular boat cruise down the Li River from Guilin to Yangshou. You can purchase tickets for this 5 hour cruise from most hotels as well as the local ticket office.
Taxis and Bikes: The best way to get around once you arrive in Guilin is by taxi or bicycle. In comparison to other Chinese cities taxis are fairly inexpensive, making them a practical and convenient option. With bicycles for rent at most hotels, cafes and hostels for as little as 15RMB per day, you can spend your time in Guilin absorbing the natural scenery and creating memorable experiences.
