The Longji Terraces
The fluorescently lush, vibrant rolling hills of the Longji Terraces can be found in Longsheng County about 100 kilometers from Guilin. With a history that spans nearly 600 years, the fields were first carved during the Yuan Dynasty, and completed in the early Qing Dynasty. Ribbons of tenderly managed rice fields weave along the undulating countryside, making ingenious use of the region's scarce amounts of water and arable land. As the seasons change, the Logji terraces take on a variety stunning appearances. Summers host waves of green that sway in gentle breezes, fall sees vibrant greens evolve into golden yellows, and winters paint the fields using a pristine white brush, transforming them into a village of mountainous snow castles. The magnificent elegance of the delicately carved landscape placed the terraces among Guangxi Province’s most astounding scenic locations.
