Datong Transportation

AIR:  Beginning operations in December of 2005, Datong's domestic airport offers regular flights to Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. The airport is located 17k east of the city's center. The airport follows a regular schedule with flights servicing Beijing on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, flights servicing Shanghai on Tuesday and Thursday, and flights bound for Guangzhou on Monday and Friday.

TRAIN:  A highly interconnected rail system connects Datong to more than 25 cities throughout China. Because coal, Datong's largest industry, is transported mainly by train the rail system has developed extensively since it was first established in 1914. Regularly scheduled destinations include Beijing, Guangzhou, Xian, Hangzhou, and Taiyuan.

LONG DISTANCE BUS:  Four long distance bus stations service routes connecting Datong to numerous cities throughout China: South Station, North Station, Xinpinwang Station, and New South Station.
The South Station serves busses heading for Beijing, Tangshan, Shijiazhuang, Chongqing, Jinan, Luoyang Baoding, Baochang, Hohhot, and Baotou. The station is located at No. 20 Yantong West Road.
The North Station, located just west of the railway station, services busses departing for Taiyuan and Shuozhou.
Busses departing from Xinpingwang Station travel mainly to Beijing and its surrounding areas.
Busses traveling to interprovincial cities, as well as Beijing and Taiyuan can be caught at Datong's New South Station.
