Bamboo Craftwork: Home to China’s largest panda population, Chengdu has made use of one of its many abundant resources, bamboo. The flexible shoots are used for crafting items such as covers and mats for vases, bowls, and teapots. Artisans use a particular species of bamboo to create these highly popular designs.
Laquerware: Chengdu is one of China’s major producers of many different styles of laquerware, ranging from detailed wall decorations to delicately hand crafted traditional screens.
Silverware: Known for its production of fine silverware, Chengdu artisans craft silver from extremely fine threads of metal as thin as strands of hair. These pieces are delicately welded together to create exquisite jewelry, wall decorations, table pieces, and other beautifully crafted works.
